Character or Plot-Driven Novels?

Character-Drivenor Plot-Driven_

Hello fellow readers!

I thought I would kick start my blog back up with a fun discussion! What I want to talk about this week is the follow:

Do you prefer character-driven or plot-driven novels? Why?

I think I like character- driven novels a wee bit better. Don’t get me wrong, I love a mean plot-driven story, but I think I gear more toward character-driven. I love really in-depth characters and getting to know them through their journey. I feel like the best books I’ve read are simply because the characters made me feel something. I got to know them, feel for them, sympathize for them, love them. For me, I feel like it’s the best way to connect with the character. If I can’t connect to a character, then I end up not enjoying the book. It doesn’t matter how good the plot is.

What about you? What do you prefer?

  1. I’m just like you – I’m much more of a character-driven kind of person. I LOVE my characters so, so, SO much and they’re the ones I relate to and ultimately, the ones that make a book a 5-star read for me, as well. If I can’t connect with the character, I most likely won’t give the book a very high rating either, just like you 🙂
Lovely post! And welcome back to blogging!! 😀
