Audiobooks and School, the New Norm

School LifeCollege LifeMy new normal

Hello,

I haven’t blogged in a while. I finally decided to go back to college for the first time in 3 years. I’m incredibly stressed out. I haven’t been reading books lately; however, I have been listening to several audiobooks which has been a tremendous help! I feel like I’ve lacked on blogging these last several months and I feel terrible. So I’m thinking about writing some lifestyle/personal type posts so I don’t disappear into oblivion (if that’s okay with you!)

So what have I been up to? Well, I am currently going to college, majoring in exercise science. I initially wanted to become either a physical therapist assistant or an occupational therapist assistant. I’m currently volunteering at a rehab place where I help out therapists, as well as cleaning therapy gyms. The work is kind of boring, but I’m thankful I did it. The more I volunteer at the rehab facility the more I realize PTA/OTA isn’t for me.

I’m also currently taking a biology class where I’m scrapping to get by. The exercise science major requires a lot of science classes. I realized I hate science. I realized I’m not good at science. I realized I never want to take another science class ever again.

To be honest, my biology has increased both my depression and anxiety. I’ve struggled with mental health for a long time, anxiety more than depression. However, I’m struggling super hard with this science class and I’m really scared I’m going to fail. I don’t want to have to retake the class over.

Because of my mental health, struggling with science, and realizing PTA/OTA isn’t for me, I decided to try and change my major. I am hoping to change my major to Health Information Management. Health Information Management is pretty much a behind the scenes work. HIM does a lot of patients records as well as medical coding and billing. The only scary part about changing majors is my college requires a second application for this major. I have to get a “C” or higher in 3 different classes and have a 2.5GPA or higher. It says it’s competitive to get into. I’m really scared they won’t accept me… :/

Going back to books, if you’re curious, I’ve currently listened to several audiobooks in the past few months. I’ve listened to The Diviners by Libba Bray. The book was creepy. I had troubles falling asleep a few times because I felt like I was watching a horror movie in my mind. In October, I listened to a few Goosebump books to get me in the Halloween mood. I also found the Box Car Children books on audbiobook on one of my library apps! I am beyond excited. I listened to the first one. I’m currently listening to the second book, Mysterious Island as well as Furyborn by Claire Legrand. It’s… interesting. The narrator has a great accent. It reminds me of Victorian British (is that even a thing…?). However, I really don’t understand what’s happening in the story. I’m not sure if listening to fantasy on audiobook is good or not….

On the bright side I bought Hank Green and Markus Zusak’s new books! I’M SO FREAKING EXCITED. I’m not in the mood to read them, but I’m excited nonetheless 🙂

So that’s what I’ve been up to. I hope everyone else has been enjoying the school year or the fall in general.

    1. You are so precious ❤ Thank you! I appreciate it so much.

The only time I could listen to the diviners was at night but that was a huge mistake XD But I also agree! I feel like I'm missing all kinds of details while listening to Furyborn. I'm only on chapter one though, so we'll see.

AND YAYAYAYAY! I'M SO GLAD YOU LIKED HANK GREENS BOOK! ❤

      1. I’ve tried to listen to a few different fantasy books on audiobook and i find myself zoning out and back in thinking, wait what the f is even happening in this book? I just finished The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo on audio and it was amazing.
