Thoughts:
Hot damn, this book was intense. This book is similar to the Hunger Games and not so similar. I personally liked this story better *shrugs*. However, I’m getting annoyed reading all these reviews about people dissing this because it’s similar to the Hunger Games. THERE ARE SO MANY DYSTOPIAN NOVELS AND FANTASY NOVELS AND ROMANCE NOVELS THAT ARE SIMILAR. okay, end of rant.
With that being said, this also has a little Pokémon thrown in. Each contestant gets an egg. The creature in the egg helps them in the race. It was such a fun and fast paced read. Tella, the main character, has a lot of sass and a whole lot of humor. I loved her. She was freaking hilarious. There were so many characters in this story that I loved. They each seemed to have a different personality.
This story was action packed, fast-paced, and overall just a super fun read. It’s been on my kindle for years so I’m glad I was finally able to get to it. Although I enjoyed this story a lot, I really hated the romance. It was pretty unbelievable to me, for reasons I won’t address because of spoilers. I think that was my least favorite part of the book. Well… that and some animal abuse. I’m not sure if I will read the 2nd book though because rumor has it a 3rd one won’t be published. 😦
