Hearing him talk this much after two months of silence is like a downpour after a drought.

Thoughts:

This book drove me bonkers. I cannot express my feelings for it adequately. It was an enjoyable read but also very annoying. The relationship felt very instalovey but I guess that is to be expected in young adult novels so I’m trying not to judge too harshly on that.

The story felt like it dragged on and on and on. I thought the pageant was going to be the main part of the story; however, nothing really happened with that until about 50% of the way into the story. The overall story had a great message about accepting who you are and not judging people for their outside appearance.

I throughly enjoyed the story but I just didn’t love it. I thought the writing was good but could have been better. Sometimes the characters felt flat and I didn’t really connect with them until the end. I usually end up falling head over heels for the love interest but I just felt meh toward him in this story.

And don’t even get me started on that ending. It ended so abrupt. The movie ending was 10x better. I actually think I kind of liked the movie a little better but the movie seemed super rushed. Overall, it was a good story. It’s not something I’d want to read again. I do, however, think this is a very important story to be read because the message is so meaningful!

Overall Feels:

  1. we have somewhat the same thoughts for this one. I read this a few years ago and kind of enjoyed it but also felt frustrated sometimes. I didn’t enjoy it as much as others I follow. And when I saw the movie recently, I also kind of enjoyed it more than the book which is quite unusual.
