Hello!
Let’s talk bookish is a weekly meme, created and hosted by Rukky @Eternity Books & Dani @ Literary Lion, where we discuss certain topics, share our opinions, and spread the love by visiting each other’s posts.
This weeks topic is what makes you DNF a book?
I’m doing this on my phone so I apologize if it looks bad. My work computer is being stupid.
What is DNF? DNF stands for did not finish. One of the biggest reasons I DNF a book is because of the writing style. If I can’t get into the writing then I have a hard time getting into the book.
The next reason is usually the characters. If the characters bother me I end up not enjoying a story. I read half a book and the characters were arguing the whole time. I got so fed up with it I needed to take a break. I hate conflict that could be solved by communicating but this book just dragged out the conflict. Big nope.
Lastly it’s because I’m just not enjoying a story or I’m in a reading slump. I usually pick these books back up eventually though!
What makes you DNF a book? Let me know down below 🥰
I usually skim parts I do not like but I do have to finish a book and get to the end 😁

I’ve done this before too! Sometimes I just google the ending so I don’t have to bother reading it too, heheh.

my main reason to dnf a book will be the character- if i couldn’t connect with them, i wouldn’t care about what happened next and then it’s just pointless to continue 😅

I agree! Characters are huge for me too!

It’s usually the writing style for me as well, but then again I rarely DNF!

Me either! I always feel so guilty. I know the authors worked hard to write it 😦

More often than not, it is writing style and pacing that has me DNF a book.

Oh, pacing is a good one too! I hate long drawn out stories.
