October Wrap-Up

Hello friends,

I had a terrible time doing Blogtober. I got busy and got behind schedule and lost all motivation to do it. I also felt like I was really annoying posting every single day. Even though I wasn’t able to continue blogtober, I did end up reading a ton of books. I read 12.8 books. Twelve point eight. I don’t remember the last time I read so many in a single freaking month! To be fair…I dnfed one and 3 of them were graphic novels and super easier to read; however, lets get on with what I read in the month of October!

The Books:

The Devil and the Dark Water by Stuart Turton \\ I read this as an ARC. I really enjoyed the mystery of the whole thing. It was pretty predictable but overall, I really loved the writing style. I gave this a 4/5 star on goodreads. Read my review here

Crazy House by James Patterson \\ This was pretty good. It was pretty hard to read because somethings were really intense. I can’t see myself continuing with the series though. The ending just seemed really.. dumb. I did read the physical copy and listen to the audiobook. 4/5

I Have No Secrets by Penny Joelson \\ Wow. I absolutely loved this. I was blown away. Jemma, the MC, had such a lovely voice. I cannot even imagine being in her situation. 5/5

The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert \\ I think this was my most let down book for all time. I had such high hopes. The first half was really good but the last half way horrendous. I don’t understand what even happened. I did the physical copy and listen to the audiobook. 2/5

Heartstopper by Alice Oseman \\ This graphic novel was SOOOOOOOO CUTEEEE. The ending left a huge cliffhanger but only vol. 1 is published in the US as far as I know. I’m so sad. I just wish the illustrations had more color. 4/5

Super Max and the Mystery of Thornwood’s Revenge by Susan Vaught \\ This was not at all what I was expecting. I thought it was going be about ghosts and such. Instead it was about a mystery. It was disappointing. 3/5

Saga by Brian Vaughan and Fiona Staples \\ Yikes. I wasn’t expecting some of the scenes in this story. They were pretty sexually graphic so beware if you want to read this. It was pretty silly. Overall, it was a pretty fun and quick read.

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas \\ This was a reread for me. I turned on the audiobook just so I had something to listen to. I ended up getting wrapped up in the story and falling in love with the world all over again. 5/5

Scythe by Neal Shusterman \\ Holy, WOW. I read this with a friend. I put off reading my other books just so I could finish this. It was amazing. It made me feel things. I felt anxious and sad but happy too. I highly recommend this. I’m mad it took me so long to read it. It was fantastic. I read the physical copy and listened to the audiobook. 5/5

The Mystery of Black Hallow Lane by Julia Nobel \\ I listened this this on audiobook. It was amazing. The narrator spoke in all kinds of different accents. It was wonderful. The story itself was kind of boring. It was interesting but I just found it dragging. 3/5

Small Spaces by Katherine Arden \\ I listened to this on audiobook. I am 26 years old and this book terrified me (it’s a MG book). Overall, I really enjoyed the story and the friendships! 4/5

Pumpkin Heads by Rainbow Rowell \\ wow. This was my first graphic novel. It was amazing. It makes me dream of finding a wonderful pumpkin patch much like the pumpkin patch in this story. It was predictable but the story was cute and the illustrations were amazing. 5/5

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas \\ I just started rereading this one too. I started listening to the audiobook but I am reading the physical copy too. I cannot express my love for this. Keep watch, I am writing a very length discussion post. πŸ˜€

Blythewood by Carol Goodman \\ I was very excited for this book but I had to DNF it. It’s interesting but I just can get into the writing and the characters don’t seem very exciting. I’m DNFing this at 50%. I really wanted to enjoy it but I just couldn’t. 😦

How was your reading month? Did you read any good books? Have you read any of the ones above? Let me know down below! πŸ˜€ Happy Halloween! I hope November is a fantastic month for you all ❀
