Down The TBR Hole #7

word

“Down the TBR Hole” is a meme created by Lia (@Lost in a Story).

Most of you probably know this feeling: Your Goodreads TBR pile keeps growing and growing, and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You keep adding, but you add more than you actually read. And then when you’re scrolling through your list, you realize that you have no idea what half the books are about or why you added them. Well that’s going to change!

It works like this:

  • Go to your Goodreads “Want to Read” shelf.
  • Order by ascending date added.
  • Take the first five (or ten, if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books.
  • Decide: Should it stay or should it go?

The Books:

Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman \\ I love, love, love anything mythology related; however, I think at this time I have to put this to the side. I just cannot seem to get into Neil Gaiman’s writing. I also just don’t find the synopsis interesting anymore. For some reason it keeps me mad marvel vibes which I know it’s not but still LOL. Verdict: Go

Once Upon a River by Diane Setterfield \\ This one is hard. Every time I read the synopsis it sounds good. I’ve also heard good things about it. However, every time I attempt to read the first page I just can’t get into it. I think it’s finally time to part with this one. Maybe I’ll read it from the library some day but right now I’m just not excited about it. Verdict: Go

Age of Myth by Michael J. Sullivan // Every time I read this synopsis it intrigues me so much! I want to read this when I get into a hardcore fantasy mood! I’m not sure what they will happen (if it ever does) but I’m keeping it! 😀 Verdict: Keep

Stain by A.G. Howard \\ I really liked A.G Howards other books. I really like the writing style of the first page so I think I’m going to keep this one for now. Not sure when I’ll read it but maybe I will some day! Verdict: Keep

Spectacle by Jodie Lynn Zdrok \\ I was going to delete this one but then I read the first page on amazon and it was so intriguing! I mostly going to delete it because it’s a historical novel which never sounds appealing to me; however, that first page sold me. Verdict: Keep

Romanov by Nadine Brandes \\ Okay, so I already own this on my Kindle so I’m removing it. I haven’t read it yet but the synopsis still sounds good! I hope to get around to it some day. Hopefully that is sooner rather than later. Being in a reading slump is hard 😦 Verdict: Go

The Tiger at Midnight by Swati Teerdhala \\ The synopsis sounds intriguing but I can’t picture myself ever picking this up and reading it. I’ve heard pretty good things about it so it might just be a library book for me. But for now, it’s wasting space on my TBR shelf. Verdict: Go

Warriors of the Wild by Tricia Levenseller \\ This book still sounds so, so good. The first page seems really well done too. I’m really excited to read this one day. It seems like it’s going to be a really good adult fantasy novel 😀 Verdict: Keep

Empress of All Seasons by Emiko Jean \\ I kind of like this cover. The book sounds a little interesting but I just can’t se myself reading this one either. I’m going to have to say goodbye. Verdict: Go

Two Thousand Years by M. Dalto \\ I’m honestly not sure why I added this to begin with. The synopsis nor first page sounds interesting. It doesn’t have great reviews either. This wasn’t easy to part with. Verdict: Go

The statistics

Let go of: 6
Decided to keep: 4

  1. This is such a good way to clean up Goodreads! I remember when I had like thousands added. And now I try to keep it between 200-300, but I should definitely continue to clean it up.

    1. Yes! I feel that too. It became super overwhelming thinking of all the books I had to read but would probably never get to! This has been a huge help with taking books of my goodreads TBR 🙂
