Down the Rabbit Hole #4

word

Down the TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story.

Most of you probably know this feeling, your Goodreads TBR pile keeps growing and growing and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You keep adding, but you add more than you actually read. And then when you’re scrolling through your list, you realize that you have no idea what half the books are about and why you added them. Well that’s going to change!

It works like this:

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?laurelsfloweers_0008_vectorsmartobject

The Books:

The Great Book of Amber by Roger Zelazny\\ I’m kind of biased, but I really want to read this simply because the name “Amber” is in the title. It’s some kind of fantasy with an island called Amber. The great book of Amber has books 1-10 in them. It sounds really good  so I think I’m keeping it!  VeridictKeep

Grim by multiple YA authors\\ This book has a lot of good authors such as Rachel Hawkins, Ellen Hopkins, and Julie Kagawa. I was debating on getting rid of this book then I read some of the sample pages and really liked the writing of several\ authors such as Rachel Hawkins. I’m not sold on the cover so I might end up reading it from the library some day but I think I’m going to keep this one as well! At least for the time being since it’s been on my TBR since 2014…. VeridictKeep

Life As We Know It by Susan Beth Pfeffer \\ I read this synopsis again and it doesn’t sound remotely interesting. Honestly, I’m not even sure why it’s on my TBR?? I remember thinking the writing style was good when I read some of the sample, but being 24, I can’t see myself reading this anymore. VeridictGo

Minders by Michelle Jaffe\\ I remember loving this cover when it first came out; however, I’m not sold on the story line anymore. It sounds interesting, but it doesn’t sound like something I would really enjoy anymore. VeridictGo

The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss\\ I’m not a big fantasy fan but this book sounds amazing. The writing sounds amazing. Everything seems to really enjoy the story. I bought it for my boyfriend over the summer. He read it and enjoyed it so I think I’ll borrow his copy one of these days… for now I’ll keep it! VeridictKeep

Phoenix Island by John Dixon\\ Why did I add this as a want to read book?? I honestly have no clue. I really don’t. It doesn’t sound like anything I’d be even remotely interested in. VeridictGo

The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay\\ This book is a keep for sure. The cover is gorgeous. It’s been on my TBR for ages because I haven’t gotten around to reading it but still sounds amazing. I also really trust Jamie’s opinion at The Perpetual Page Turner and she really enjoyed the book. That’s what really sold it for me! VeridictKeep

Plus One by Elizabeth Pama\\ At first, I really enjoyed this cover but now it just seems… cheesy? The synopsis sounds really interesting and unique. I might end up reading it some day but it’s not at the top of my list. I think I’m going to have to let this one go for the time being. Veridict: Go

Something Real by Heather Demetrios\\ This sounds like a book about a celebrity who isn’t a celebrity anymore and tries to live a normal life. It sounds interesting but the cover, to me, is absolutely hideous. Honestly, I don’t think I’d read this for the mere fact of how much I hate the cover. I am a terrible person. Maybe on day I’ll get it from the library! Veridict: Go

The Good Girl by Mary Kubica\\ This sounds like an interesting story. A girl that leaves with a stranger and gets kidnapped? For some reason, this books always make me want to read them. I love a good mystery novel. I’m hoping to read this some day. Hopefully sooner rather than later! VeridictKeep

This is about a girl that keeps dying and coming back to life as a new person because she’s some kind of test subject for some government experiment. The synopsis sounds amazing… the first chapter was amazing… but the cover is hideous. I think I want to take this off my TBR on goodreads but save it to read off my library app or something! 🙂

VERDICT: go

I believe this is about an obese boy thats contemplating on killing himself? I’m not sure how to explain it but it sounds amazing. I actually kind of really like the cover, too!

VERDICT: keep

Just read the first chapter of this. I’m definitely keeping it. Sounds badass, intense, and mysterious. People are trying to kill this girl but she doesn’t even know who she it!? I NEED TO KNOW WHY!

VERDICT: keep

This book sounds badass. A badass female lead that’s the stronget of her kind? Sign me up! but then the synopsis lost me because it felt like instead of being a role about a badass, it’s about a girl that becomes mad weak for being interested in a guy. gaggggg….

VERDICT: go

I believe this is a re-telling of Alice in Wonderland? It sounds amazing… Plus Alice in Wonderland has been a favorite movie of mine since I was young. I want these books in hardcover so freaking bad!

laurelsfloweers_0008_vectorsmartobjectI’m super excited to start this new segment on my blog! I have over 150 books on my TBR on gooreads and a lot of them were added in like 6-7 years ago! :O

7906105 Every time I see this book on my TBR, I consider taking it off because it’s been on my TBR list since 2010. However, every time I read the synopsis, I’m reminded as to why I want to keep it. It’s about a blind girl with phenomena that ends up getting accidentally kidnapped

VERDICT: keep

11496636This cover is absolutely gorgeous… I keep debating on taking it off my TBR simply because it’s been on my TBR for so long, but the synopsis always sounds intriguing. The main character can cross the veil between life and death. Sounds awesome!

VERDICT: keep

12425532When reading this synopsis, I wasn’t super interested in the plot. I think I added this to my to TBR because it had good reviews and because I like books about any form of Greek mythology. However, I’m not into this cover. I doubt I’d buy this for my selves but I did enjoy what I read of the first page on amazon so I’d probably read this off my library app!

VERDICT: go

This book is about a girl that messages a guy online and ends up meeting him but he’s not who he appears to be and the girl goes missing. The plot sounds fantastic and it seems like an important story on how dangerous the internet can be. I was super into the first page I read on amazon so I’ll probably just end up reading this from the library or something if I ever get around to it!

VERDICT: go

7531478I like reading books about mental illnesses and stuff so I think that’s why I added this book… but the more I read the synopsis, I don’t think it’s something I would into. I think it’s just the way the synopsis is written but the book doesn’t sound interesting in the slightly. 😦

VERDICT: go
